The Visitors Center is looking for energetic, outgoing individuals to join our team! Our guest services representatives welcome thousands of people to Columbus each year in our gift shop and welcome center. In addition to typical retail responsibilities, individuals in this role also provide visitor information, give directions, interact with visitors taking architectural tours, and share the story of our remarkable community.
We are interested in hearing from people looking for full-time and part-time positions.
Successful candidates will have availability Monday through Friday 9:30-5:30 and must be willing to work two weekends per month and occasional evenings.

GUEST SERVICES SPECIALIST POSITION DESCRIPTION
PURPOSE: A Guest Services Specialist delivers exceptional guest service and creates visitor experiences that reinforce the community brand. This position reports to the Guest Services Manager and is the appointed guest service team lead in the absence of the manager.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Welcome and Inform
Provide information and directions, face-to-face and by phone to guests
Showcase community features and services with pride
Provide schedules and contact information for current events and venues
Guide guests to attractions and dining
Create connections for sales and marketing staff and advise of any opportunities for group or sports tourism events
Learn and share Visitors Center website content, staff schedules/functions, and how to navigate Outlook and phone system
Maintain brochure information levels and report needs/shortages
Retail Sales Assistance
Possess knowledge of gift shop products, features, and benefits
Assist in product selection and make suggestions based on need and price
Possess ability to operate current NCR Counterpoint point of sale system
Work primarily with Guest Services Manager to maintain accurate records
Monitor and maintain proper inventory levels
Maintain proper cash/change levels, advising when change is needed
Observe opening and closing procedures and prepare daily deposit and sales record
Advise of restocking needs and latest items of interest
Maintain an orderly and clean retail environment, restocking items as needed
Observe condition of floors, cabinets, and shelves, cleaning as needed
Observe condition of exterior, cleaning or reporting condition(s) to Operations Manager
Observe condition of restrooms, taking steps to restock supplies, clean, or report condition(s)
Tour Assistance
Provide check-in, directions, and video screenings as needed
Possess ability to learn ticketing software (FareHarbor)
Possess ability to work video screening room technology
Work collaboratively with Guest Services Manager and volunteers to assist, provide information, and manage the flow of tour traffic
Provide any assistance needed to volunteers, drivers, and guides
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
At least one year of experience in retail, tourism, or hospitality preferred
B. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Ability to work in group settings
Effective communication and customer service skills
Ability to find solutions to challenges posed by special visitor needs or expectations
Intermediate to advanced grammar and writing skills
Strong skills in using computer programs: word processing, ticketing, and other job-related software
Ability to operate and troubleshoot technology utilized to deliver the tour
Must be able to multitask in a busy environment
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Comprehension of operating office equipment, including computer, scanner, copier, point of sale system, and screening room audio/ visual equipment
Possession of a valid driver’s license
C. PHYSICAL/SENSORY/COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception
Ability to travel outside the Bartholomew County area for work-related meetings or events
