Gallery 506 welcomes two local
Gallery 506 welcomes two local husband and wife artists James Behmke and Donna Virig and their mixed media exhitib Through Our Eyes.
Donna Virig’s medium is watercolor, striving to create realistic natural images. She concentrates on the interplay of light and shadow to create three-dimensional images, and her engineering background and skills have led to her ability to see and express detail in her creations. Donna’s favorite subjects include botanicals and landscapes that are based upon experiences she has had while travelling.
James Bemke is a nature photographer whose work has become more selective with his choices through the viewfinder. A full day in the woods, a zoo, or other location may yield one exceptional image. The use of light and shadows from Caravaggio paintings are key to his latest work and come from memories of an exhibit he attended as a child.
The couple’s work has been displayed at Columbus Indiana Art Fest, Penrod Art Fest, Talbot Street Art Fest, Madison Chautauqua, Bloomington, Louisville, Lexington, Grand Haven, Fort Wayne, Chesterton, and Michigan City. Their work is available through Tri-State Artisans, and works displayed at Gallery 506 are available for purchase. They can be reached at email@example.com.
