Charles Osgood of CBS in Columbus, Indiana

WHEN CHARLES OSGOOD AND THE CBS SUNDAY MORNING CREW CAME TO TOWN

Each summer, CBS Sunday Morning devotes a program to the subject of design. In May of 2011, they shot on location in Columbus, and featured The Miller House and Garden and the unexpected story of Columbus’ renowned architecture.

The show is known for its enlightening and fascinating stories of people and places, and we couldn’t be more proud that Charles Osgood and his crew were in our town and highlighted Columbus for their annual design show.

Below you can read observations made by the film crew during their visit to Columbus…

I was completely amazed by the uniqueness of the town, the beauty of the buildings, and the range of the architecture. You can see Victorian stuff, and then you have this Art Deco thing going on. It’s got a little bit of everything.

I remembered it being a beautiful town filled with really interesting architecture. The buildings…there’s no question they stand the test of time. There are many, many buildings in America that are pedestrian at best, when you have a town that’s filled with some really memorable architecture, it’s a gift.

They all love their city, I think that’s really fabulous because you don’t find that very often. People have moved here from other places and settled, and I think that says a lot for the city. I think it’s really a best-kept secret.
