Looking down Washington Street, Columbus’ “Main Street,” you’ll see lots of restaurants, shops, and other locally-owned small businesses. In recent years, downtown Columbus has seen an influx of vibrant new retail establishments, adding to its already considerable charm. The other day I was walking down Washington Street with my sister and cousin. On a whim, we decided to have an impromptu fashion show. We popped into Boutique Elsie and found just what we were looking for!
Boutique Elise, a small shop featuring men’s and women’s fashions, is owned and operated by Renee Nehrt. The Columbus location is the second store she has opened, the first store is located in Brownstown, Indiana. After speaking to Renee I found out the vision and a couple of goals she has for the brand.
“Columbus is a little bit bigger [than Brownstown]. There is a bit more opportunity, they offer different things.” Said Nehert “My goal is to have more than two stores someday as well. I love Columbus too, I love the culture as well.”
By all appearances, Renee is well on her way to achieving her goal of becoming a retail mogul. Looking around the store you can see that the styles strike the perfect balance between trendy yet comfy. Nehrt said she tries to pick clothes for her stores based on her style as well as what is “in” at that time.
Hearing the giggles from my sister and cousin in the dressing room was just half of the fun we had. We had so much fun taking pictures in the outfits we picked out, and the staff at Boutique Elise were all so helpful and nice. They were eager to help us pick out outfits and even made suggestions for good spots for our photo shoot. Here’s a glimpse at the fun we had!
If you haven’t checked out the offerings at Boutique Elise, what are you waiting for?! With new clothing arriving weekly, you can’t go wrong with a dose of style and a few good laughs!
