Indiana Glass trail : Columbus, Indiana

TWO FREE, PUBLIC CHIHULY DISPLAYS IN COLUMBUS, INDIANA!

[ View the colorful glass trail brochure

Columbus was one of the first to put Dale Chihuly's work  on display, and the Chihuly chandelier in the Visitors Center is, like the city's slogan, unexpected: visitors routinely gasp when they first spot the piece. The bay window provides a dramatic backdrop for the chandelier and the accompanying Persians; stop by in the evening, when the chandelier really shows its stuff, as this Chihuly chandelier is one of a rare few that is illuminated!

Some find Chihuly's work so compelling they want a piece they can call their own, and the Visitors Center is one of the few places in the Midwest where you can purchase original Chihuly glass work and prints, in the
gift shop.

THEN, VISIT THE STUNNING CHIHULY SUN GARDEN PANELS

Any Chihuly fan will also want to make the quick trip to the Columbus Learning Center, where a rare Chihuly work is also on public display. Commissioned to fit the unique space, the large Sun Garden Panels in Suspended Circle features original Chihuly artwork backlit by the sun. ( photo from opening reception by Mike Dickbernd )

THE VISITORS CENTER GIFT SHOP IS A GLASS DESTINATION ALL ITS OWN

The Columbus Visitors Center gift shop offers always-changing surprises for anyone looking to purchase glass items. The shop carries glass work by Indiana artists, and the staff travels the country looking for new and unique items.

ENJOY GREAT ATMOSPHERE, DINING (AND DESSERTS...), AND ALL THAT GLASS!

While you indulge yourself at the legendary downtown Zaharakos restaurant, recently renovated to its original early 1900s glory, you'll find plenty of glass details that will catch your eye!

THE LARGEST ANTIQUE MALL IN THE REGION IS CRAZY WITH GLASS ITEMS!

Once you've recharged your batteries at Zaharakos, you can head out to the Exit 76 Antique Mall, where you'll find a cornucopia of surprising and delightful items around every corner.
