Harry Weese designed the middle school in 1961 as a massive building with repetitive use of brick arches, most with inset windows. An addition in 1992 by Leers, Weinzapfel & Associates was needed to accommodate the growing school population.

Norman Fletcher of the Architects Collaborative designed the school in 1962 with a series of barrel vaults, presenting an umbrella effect. The addition in 1990 by Fletcher was seemless with the same style of barrel vaults.
